Student Finance application reminder

Continuing your studies with us in September? Apply for your 2026/2027 student finance funding by 21 June to ensure your funding is in place for the start of the next academic year. Applications after this date will still be assessed, but may result in delays to payments and can impact payment of bursary instalments. Any issues or questions, contact the Student Support and Advice team in the Student Hub.

Take part in Pride Month 2026

Following the parade over the weekend, Pride Month events continue this week - featuring a range of activities including themed talks, an open mic, and our staff and student-led on-campus flag raising this Wednesday (3 June).

Study support: if things go wrong

We understand that unexpected events can have an impact on your studies, especially during assessment season. If things go wrong, you have options and trusted teams you can talk to. York SU’s Advice and Support team provide independent guidance and advice and help you explore if you’d like to apply for exceptional circumstances affecting assessment.

Looking after our campus

As the warmer months approach, we encourage everyone to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of our campus, while doing our part to maintain and respect this space. If you are planning any outdoor activities, such as BBQs, be sure to check out our campus guidelines to enjoy the space safely.

1. Prepare to leave York

If you’re moving out of your accommodation soon, there are a few things you’ll need to do before you depart:

  • Read through our moving out guide for advice on deposit returns, removing rubbish and avoiding unnecessary charges - regardless of whether you live on campus or in private housing
  • If you need to store your belongings, we’ve partnered with Kit Keeper for an exclusive York discount
  • Return any outstanding Library books by Friday (7 June)
  • Check if you are eligible for a TV license refund

Leaving the University?

If you’ve finished your studies, be sure to read through our Leavers’ Guide for a quick round up of a few final steps you’ll need to take before leaving York.

2. Enjoy summer on campus

Enjoy summer in York

If you are staying in York to work, study or research over the summer, there are a few things to be aware of, including outlet opening hours, available study spaces,  summer bus timetables and car park closures.

A range of social events and activities will also be taking place throughout the summer vacation including walks, quizzes, trips and more. The summer events programme is a great way to meet other students and make the most of summer in York.

Stay cool, save energy this summer

If you’re using campus spaces this summer, we’re encouraging everyone to use energy responsibly during warmer weather as part of our Energy Saving Campaign.

3. York Festival of Ideas begins

Following the launch over the weekend, York Festival of Ideas continues until 12 June, with a packed programme of over 200 mostly free events to explore online and in-person. Step into York’s past with a range of themed walking tours, be part of big conversations with Festival Focus events, and even discover where a research degree could take you as UoY PhD students compete in a challenge against the clock!

4. Today: Stroll the solar system

Get your walking boots on and come along to explore the University of York’s Model Solar System! Join our resident astronomer Thom for a relaxing tour of the Solar System, starting at 1pm today (1 June) outside the Students’ Union building.

5. Discover your next adventure - Postgraduate Online Open Day

It’s never too early - or too late - to start thinking about your next steps after your degree, and if postgraduate study could be part of your future. Whether you’ve thought about applying, or already have an offer, join us for our Online Open Day on Wednesday 10 June to:

  • meet potential departments,
