We're marking Black History Month 2026 throughout October, which this year has the theme ‘Honouring Our Communities’. Learn about our actions as a University, discover local and national groups and networks, and find out about events on campus and across the region, such as the forthcoming Gentle Hair Day.

Student healthcare: use the right service
|
Got a health issue and not sure if you need a doctor, pharmacy, NHS 111 or emergency help? Use the Right Service can help point you in the right direction.

Located in the atrium of the Biology Building, this spacious café may be your new favourite lunch spot on campus. The Atrium features comfortable booths and high tables alongside a micro market stocking hot and cold drinks and confectionery. The Atrium is open 8.30am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, and the micro market is available 24/7. See The Atrium menu.
|
We’d like to remind you not to put up posters around campus and the city. It‘s against campus rules to affix posters anywhere on campus without permission. Fly-posting is also illegal in the city and perpetrators are prosecuted.

2. Trouble shooting IT issues
|
You should connect to the eduroam network rather than use ‘UoY setup’ or the guest network. We’ve recently improved our step-by-step guide to connecting to the correct network. Similarly, if you ever run into any minor glitches, we have a handy MyUoY troubleshooting guide with some simple, easy steps to get you back on track. For further help, pop along to our IT Support drop-in sessions running 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday in the Library (Harry Fairhurst floor 2).
If you need access to a laptop, IT Services and the Library have relaunched the laptop loans service with two new cabinets in the Piazza Building (Campus East) and the Fairhurst Building (Campus West). You can borrow a device for up to four hours.

3. Is it okay to let someone else use your bank account?
|
During Cyber Security Awareness Month, we’re warning students to not inadvertently help criminals to commit fraud. Students are often targeted to become ‘money mules’, where you’re offered a chance to make quick cash in exchange for processing money through your bank account. It might look like a job offer, money making scheme or currency exchange deal. However, getting involved could have extremely serious consequences for you, including a criminal conviction. Find out about scams and the facts about becoming a money mule.
