Latest email scam: watch out for 'Google Workspace' phishing emails

We’re aware of a convincing new phishing campaign targeting Google Workspace users - look out for known signs of a scam and warn your friends and colleagues too. 

Be a good neighbour: Parking in residential areas

Do you park locally? When finding somewhere to leave your car, be sure to consider if you could be inadvertently blocking residential access to driveways, or making it difficult for emergency vehicles or buses to pass. 

Considering bringing your car to campus? Explore the range of alternative, sustainable ways to travel around York, or if you might be eligible for a student parking permit.

Looking ahead: Sustainability Week 2026 (2 - 6 March)

Sustainability Week returns next week for its twelfth year with a packed schedule of events to explore from the University and Students’ Union - from film screenings to workshops to clothes swaps. Booking is now open - explore the full range of activities and secure your tickets!

Whether you're a solo explorer or looking to find your new travel crew, just hop on and soak in the best of what the North has to offer!

2. Money worries? We’re here to help

Talking about money doesn’t come naturally to everyone - but support can be for anyone. Our weekly money open-hour sessions are back for Semester 2, taking place every Tuesday in the Student Hub - no booking required. Whether you have a quick question about your finances, a worry about rent, or just want to find out how to enjoy uni life on a budget, we're here to help. 

Ready to level up your money skills? Save the date for National Student Money Week starting next Monday, featuring a range of events, giveaways and specialised money sessions with experts to help you to feel money confident.

3. Thinking of starting a business?

Start your business journey with our Explore Enterprise programme. Over five weeks, build the foundations of your business knowledge and learn the basics through interactive workshops with like-minded students. There is a chance to show off all you’ve learned in a pitching competition at the end. Apply to take part in the Explore Enterprise programme by Monday 16 March.

4. What is generative AI and can you trust it?

Generative artificial intelligence (or AI) is rapidly becoming part of our daily lives - but how does it really work? How should we use it and can we trust what it creates? Read our Using AI generation tools guide and join the Academic Skills community on Wednesday (25 February) for a What is generative AI and can you trust it? workshop exploring available tools, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of using them. You should also be familiar with Student guidance on using AI and translation tools.

5. Find your calm - Quiet Spaces now in the My UoY App

Information about Quiet Space on campus is now integrated into the My UoY app, for easier access on the go, making it simpler to find the right environment whenever you need it.

To find information on Sensory Rooms, Wellbeing Spaces, Zoom Pods and more, simply navigate to the Campus Explore section of the app and tap the Quiet Spaces icon.
