Roadworks on Hull Road

City of York Council are carrying out essential carriageway resurfacing works on Hull Road until late October 2025. This may cause significant traffic delays so we recommend leaving extra time when planning your journey to and from campus.

2. Looking after your personal safety

We’ve teamed up with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to create some essential training for students to help you think about personal safety. Get the know-how to assess, manage and reduce risks you may face at study or at work, including topics such as identifying harassment, stalking awareness, and ways to deal with conflict.

3. If you feel unwell

Healthcare

In a large community such as ours, we all need to do what we can to minimise the spread of infectious illnesses. Remember your student healthcare 1,2,3:

  • Register with a local doctor
  • Make sure your vaccinations are up to date
  • Fever, aches, coughs? Learn the tell-tale signs of infectious illnesses

If you do feel unwell, let someone know but avoid close contact with people to prevent spreading any infection. Seek medical help if you’re worried. See our student healthcare web page for more information and check your department handbook for what to do if you’re ill and can’t attend teaching sessions.

4. Become a Student Ambassador

Looking for paid part-time work alongside your studies? Apply to become a Student Ambassador. There are undergraduate, postgraduate and international student roles. Offering flexible shifts, paid training and varied work, it’s also a great opportunity to learn new skills. Applications may close early according to demand so don’t delay!

5. Be a student feedback volunteer

Sign up to be a student feedback volunteer for opportunities to take part in things like student focus groups, surveys, photoshoots and social media activities. Often you can earn vouchers and rewards as a thank you.
