Long live Long Boi - share your sculpture selfies
|
Based in Ron Cooke Hub, Hub Cafe has now reopened with a brand new menu, new seating and new local coffee supplier. New items include bubble tea, Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury street food pancake), ramen, crumble pots and more.
|
Careers and Placements opening hours change
|
The Careers and Placements Building is now open Monday to Thursday, 10am to 3pm, and closed on Fridays. You can go to the Careers drop-in between 10am to 12 noon, Monday to Thursday.
|
Summer graduation 2025 dates
|
The dates for summer 2025 graduation ceremonies have been confirmed, beginning Saturday 19 July until Thursday 24 July 2025. More information will be available to those graduating in due course. The next graduation ceremonies are in January 2025.

Your time at university is a chance to do more of what you love - and to find new things to love. Learn more of the basics about student life in York and discover opportunities to get involved and expand your experiences, both here on campus and in the city of York.

2. Volunteer and make a difference
|
Each semester, we have many volunteer opportunities exclusively for students to help you gain work experience, develop valuable skills, and make a difference in the wider community.
|
- Applications are open until 9 October for York Students in Schools (YSIS) extracurricular club volunteers and Maths Excellence Club coaches.
- Current Community Projects include supporting cataloguing WW1 oral histories, researching school English as an Additional Language (EAL) policies, or leading a sustainability workshop with young people.

3. Prepare for the Careers Fairs next week
|
- 9 Oct: Law Fair
Did you know that around 50% of new recruits in many law firms come from a non-law background?
- 10-11 Oct: Graduate Jobs and Placements Fair
Meet a range of organisations recruiting for graduate schemes, placement years and internships.
|
In addition to meeting employers, you can get your CV reviewed, get a professional photo taken for your LinkedIn profile, pick up free work clothes at the Work Wardrobe and get help if you’re nervous about approaching an employer.

4. Keep your personal information secure
|
Imagine waking up one morning to find your bank accounts empty, your social media accounts hacked and no idea where your personal information may have been shared.
Tomorrow is the first day of Cybersecurity Awareness Month. As instances of cyber attack increase and online scams get more sophisticated, it’s never been more important to learn how to keep your personal information secure. Read recommendations from IT Services on practising good cybersecurity and make sure to follow IT Services on X for more tips throughout the month.
