Earlier this year the University took part in a sector-wide consultation on Turnitin’s plans to update their terms of use, where we fed back our concerns. The consultation concluded in a clear statement by Turnitin that no changes would be made to our agreement and no students’ data will be used to train their AI services. The University will meet with York Students’ Union to discuss the issues raised for the future. Read more.

At the start of a new academic year, we’re with you all the way. When you attend teaching sessions, you may be asked to ‘check-in’. Check-In is a key support tool - if it looks like you're not engaging with your studies, we reach out with guidance and advice. For that reason, we ask that you don’t share check-in codes with friends. You can check-In quickly and easily via the MyUoY app.

Disability support update
|
Disability Services has received a high volume of registrations this year and it may take a while for a Disability Adviser to contact you. However, submit your registration form and supporting information by Friday 23 October to ensure that any agreed individual exam arrangements are in place for the January 2027 assessment period. In the meantime, contact your academic department if you feel comfortable sharing your support needs. Departments are aware of the current demand and may be able to offer interim support.

Come to the first University Assembly
|
In a world marked by conflicts and crises, we are organising a first University Assembly to provide a safe and reflexive space to explore and discuss complex issues related to current armed conflicts and the role and scope of universities in responding to these. Register your interest to participate in the University Assembly by Wednesday (30 September).
