Do you park locally? When finding somewhere to leave your car, be sure to consider if you could be inadvertently blocking residential access to driveways, or making it difficult for emergency vehicles or buses to pass.

1. Learn a language as part of your degree
|
No matter what degree you are studying, you can learn a language as part of it. Take a York Language Elective (YLE) to broaden your knowledge, make unique academic connections and boost your employability. Applications for 2026/27 are open now and you can choose from a wide range of languages at different levels of study, including Arabic, Chinese, Classical Latin, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Medieval Latin and Spanish.

Our weekly money open-hour sessions are back for Semester 2, taking place every Tuesday in the Student Hub - no booking required. Whether you have a quick question about your finances, a worry about rent, or just want to find out how to enjoy uni life on a budget, we're here to help.
Ready to level up your money skills? Save the date for National Student Money Week starting next Monday, featuring a range of events, giveaways and specialised money sessions with experts to help you to feel money confident.

3. Thinking of starting a business?

Start your business journey with our Explore Enterprise programme. Over five weeks, build the foundations of your business knowledge and learn the basics through interactive workshops with like-minded students. There is a chance to show off all you’ve learned in a pitching competition at the end. Apply to take part in the Explore Enterprise programme by Monday 16 March.
